Learn about Pigments, Organic Pigments, Inorganic Pigments, Masterbatch Pigments, Plastic Color Pigments, and High-Performance Colorants.
Pigments are colorant materials used to impart color to plastics, paints, inks, and coatings. Unlike dyes, pigments are insoluble and remain dispersed within the material, offering excellent color strength, opacity, light fastness, and weather resistance. Common pigment types include organic pigments, inorganic pigments, iron oxide, titanium dioxide, and carbon black.
Phthalocyanine and high-performance organic pigments are considered among the strongest in tinting strength due to their excellent color intensity, brightness, and resistance to fading. They are widely used in plastics, inks, coatings, and industrial color masterbatches.
Dyes dissolve in their application medium, while pigments remain as fine insoluble particles dispersed within plastic, paint, or ink. Pigments generally offer better light fastness, heat stability, weather resistance, and longer-lasting color compared to dyes.
Inorganic pigments such as iron oxide, titanium dioxide, and chrome-based pigments offer high heat resistance and are suitable for high-temperature plastic processing. Several organic pigments are also formulated for heat stability up to 280-300°C.
Pigments are used in plastic masterbatch, packaging materials, automotive components, paints and coatings, printing inks, textiles, construction materials, and consumer goods to provide consistent, long-lasting color.
High-performance pigments offer superior color strength, UV stability, weather resistance, heat resistance, and chemical resistance, making them more cost-effective over the product lifecycle than standard colorants that fade or degrade faster.
Organic pigments are used in plastic coloring, masterbatch compounding, printing inks, paints, automotive coatings, and packaging applications. They are known for bright, vivid shades and high tinting strength.
Inorganic pigments such as titanium dioxide, iron oxide, and carbon black are mineral-based colorants known for outstanding opacity, heat resistance, weather resistance, and chemical stability. They are commonly used in plastics, construction materials, and industrial coatings.
High-performance organic pigments and select inorganic pigments such as titanium dioxide and iron oxide are widely recognized for excellent light fastness, making them suitable for outdoor and weather-exposed plastic applications.
Inorganic pigments and select phthalocyanine-based organic pigments offer excellent resistance against chemicals, solvents, and industrial fluids, making them ideal for demanding industrial color applications.
